Illustration, Icons + Diagrams

Illustration, icons and diagrams play a crucial role in graphic design and branding. Much more than a pretty or cute picture, these design elements can put a face to a brand, clarify and clearly communicate crucial information, or create a system of identifying design elements that guide users through information, such as a Web site or a manual.

Illustration and symbols have been used since prehistoric times in cave paintings and petroglyphs and their continued use throughout history is testament to their effectiveness as well as their overall appeal when used in branding and design.

> SEE THE WORK

Once all created and produced by hand ? sometimes with painstaking effort ? much of today?s illustration is computer generated (although there are still quite a number of illustrators who work only in traditional formats, or combined traditional with computer art.) Regardless of their medium, illustrators and icon designers need to have an understanding of the fundamentals of drawing and apply the same techniques in their work.

Consider using illustration to clarify concepts in your PowerPoint presentation, Web site or brochure, as well as in your corporate identity.
